On Friday 21st November, Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club held its Annual Sportsman’s Dinner at the Knockagh Lodge. The event was again generously sponsored by Joe Sloan of SHS Sales & Marketing and WKD. The guest speakers were Rugby World Cup winner and British and Irish Lion Mark Regan MBE and comedian Ollie Spencer.

In addition to the speakers, there was an auction which was officiated in a very professional way by Richard Livingstone. The Club is indebted to all those who bid for the various lots, whether or not they were successful. The auction lots included –

• A framed Lions Jersey signed by winning Lions’ Captain Sam Wharburton from the 2013 Series against Australia (Donated by HSBC)
• Two tickets for Ireland v England in Dublin including travel and accommodation
• Signed framed montage of three times major winner Rory McIlroy
• Two premium level tickets for Man Utd v Man City including flights and accommodation
• Four Corporate tickets for Northampton Saints v London Wasps in the Aviva Premiership (Donated by Kerr Tyres/Hankook)

 

On the evening, Carrickfergus RFC, which celebrates its 150th Anniversary in 2015, formally announced plans for a Gala dinner to be held at the Titanic, Belfast on Saturday 20th June 2015. Jim Neilly will MC the evening and Guest speaker will be Ireland & British Lions legend, Brian O’Driscoll. Guests will enjoy a drinks reception before being escorted to their table to enjoy a fine dining 3 course meal. Following the meal Brian will take part in a Q&A session based on questions submitted by guests as they arrive in the Atrium.
